ActionAid has scored individual countries on their efforts to fight hunger – the results are not good at all. All around the world, governments are contributing to hunger through bad policies and political inaction.

With over 1 billion people going hunger every day, the Millennium Development Goal to halve hunger by 2015 wildly off track AND the number of hungry people rising, not falling – we need all countries to act fast.

Tell your leader to attend the World Food Summit in Rome on November 16th to agree on a plan for the eradication of global hunger.

ActionAid’s Who’s Fighting Hunger? scorecard report shows that most countries are failing miserably to take the specific actions needed to eradicate hunger – ours included.

While France ranks in the middle of the scorecard, it has not necessarily devised a concrete national plan to fight hunger. It is only providing 36 percent of its ODA (Official Development Assistance) fair share to agriculture, and only 9 percent to social protection. 
With regards to climate change, it has only set med-level emissions targets and is offering negligible increased finance.

I want you to help FREE A BILLION PEOPLE FROM HUNGER by committing to a global hunger eradication plan:

I want you to:

- Ensure that all countries create hunger eradication plans – and agree to have these plans monitored by the UN.

- Ensure that the $20bn announced for hunger eradication at this years’ G8 is used for the effective delivery of these plans – and does not just evaporate.

- Make sustainable agriculture the key approach by focussing on small holder women famers.
