The Politics of Distribution
Hunger is not an issue of the amount of food, rather it is to do with the politics of distribution. Simon Muhindi is the Agricultural Programme Officer for the Kenyan Government and is critical of the support provided for agriculture in general, and food security in particular. rnDespite a regional commitment to spend 10% of budgets on Agriculture, Kenya currently spends only 4.5% of it's national budget on the sector, a figure which, when narrowed down to food security, drops to a mere 1.2%.
