World Food Day
October 16th. With over a billion people Hungry in the world there may not be much to celebrate but we do want to tell you about the release of our long awaited Scorecard Report "Who's Really Fighting Hunger?"
This is an in-depth investigation into what 50 governments (poor and rich) are doing to tackle the billion hungry. Giving them each scores based on their achievements and policies.
While some of the poorest countries in the world have been able to reduce the number of hungry people, many of the richest countries lag shockingly behind.
From Brazil to Bangladesh for World food Day
On World Food Day over 95, 000 people from over 27 countries stepped up the fight against hunger with a series of big, bold events. From Uganda and Mozambique in Africa to Bangladesh and Vietnam in Asia to Guatemala and Nicaragua in the Americas, here are some of the things that we got up to on the big day...
Scorecard Report: Focus on Malawi
With one child dying of hunger every six seconds, ActionAid's report Who’s really fighting hunger? points the finger at failing governments while highlighting those that have achieved extraordinary results.
Malawi shows that, despite being one of the poorest countries in the world, hunger CAN be fought. All that is needed is the political will.
And the rains finally came…but too late for most Kenyans.

I was in Mwingi district in Kenya today, at one of a series of events taking place in the country for World Day. This is one of the most affected areas of the current food crisis in Kenya and this was a great opportunity for affected communities to make their voices heard.
World Food/ Hunger Day
16th of October, was World Food Day. Perhaps this should be called World Hunger Day as more than one billion people have no food to eat.

Leading African musicians performed at the Free the Hungry Billion, Stand Up and Take Action concert in Nairobi to celebrate World Food Day.
“This world produces enough to meet all our needs, but not our greed. Greed has left 1 billion people hungry. Join the fight against global hunger, fight greed”
